Chapter 32: Shadows of the Past

When Isabella saw the badge, the color instantly drained from her face. The teacup in her hand trembled slightly before she set it down hard on the table.

"You know this symbol, Mother?" Leo asked, noticing the sudden shift in her demeanor.

Isabella took a deep breath, her eyes drawn to the portrait of her late husband on the wall. "It is The Eclipse. They are not a street gang or a greedy corporation. They are a cult of power brokers, men who believe the world can only be kept in order if it is ruled by fear."

She turned back to Leo, her eyes resolute but tinged with sorrow. "They are the ones who took your father from us. I thought the fire of the Foundation had burned them to ash twenty years ago. But it seems they only retreated into the shadows, waiting."

"Then," Leo said, his grip tightening around the badge, "we will light up that darkness."
