Chapter 12: The Architecture of Greed

The silence in the boardroom was absolute, heavy with the sudden, suffocating weight of an impending war.

Isabella looked down at the dossier, then back up at Julian's triumphant, sneering face.

"You believe you can dismantle a legally protected philanthropic trust, Julian?" Isabella asked softly.

"I have the best corporate litigators on the eastern seaboard working around the clock," Julian replied, crossing his arms. "You built this foundation to protect the weak. But in business, the weak get eaten. You made my uncle look like a fool ten years ago because he was a coward. I am not my uncle."

Leo stood up.

He was eighteen, but he possessed the physical presence and the quiet, lethal authority of a man twice his age. He did not raise his voice. He did not show anger. He simply stepped forward, creating a physical barrier between Julian and his mother.

"You have thirty-two percent of the proxy votes," Leo said, his tone entirely conversational, yet chillingly precise. "That gives you the right to call a special vote. It does not give you the right to stand in my mother's office and issue threats. The door is behind you."

Julian looked at the young heir, letting out a short, mocking laugh.

"The prince speaks," Julian sneered. "Listen to me, kid. You grew up in a bubble of charity and kindness. You don't know how the real world operates. When I call the vote next Friday, I will own this building. Enjoy the view while it lasts."

Julian turned on his heel and strode out of the boardroom, leaving the heavy glass doors swinging in his wake.

The executives immediately erupted into frantic, panicked chatter.

"Madam Calderon, if he forces a liquidation vote—"

"We need to file an injunction immediately—"

Isabella raised a single hand. The room fell instantly, obediently silent.

"Panic is a luxury we do not afford ourselves in this building," Isabella said, her voice an unshakable pillar of calm. "We have one week. We will find his weakness. Meeting adjourned."
