Chapter 31: Echoes of Victory
Dawn the following day brought a rare sense of tranquility to the Foundation headquarters. Oakhaven had been liberated, and the world was currently singing the praises of the Calderon name.
Leo sat in his glass-walled office, nursing a cup of black coffee. On the desk rested a small, tarnished metal box. Elias walked in, his expression unusually grim for a day that ought to have been a celebration.
"We found this in the crime lord's underground bunker in Oakhaven," Elias said, tapping the box lightly. "It’s not blackmail data or weapon blueprints. It’s a message."
Leo opened the lid. Inside lay an obsidian badge, engraved with the image of a fully eclipsed sun. The temperature in the room seemed to drop.

"The Black Sun," Leo muttered.
"I scanned it," Elias noted. "No explosives. But there's a micro-code etched into the surface. It translates to a single line: 'The brighter the light, the deeper the shadow.'"
