Chapter 13 - The Grand Execution

The convention center was a sea of flashing cameras, expensive suits, and the low hum of anticipation. Over two thousand of the tech and financial world’s elite had gathered for Vance Global’s historic launch of the "V-Nexus AI." Above the massive stage, a thirty-foot digital screen displayed a pulsing, golden logo, symbolizing Julian Vance’s impending triumph over the Robertson Group.

In the VIP holding room behind the stage, Julian adjusted his silk tie, a smug grin plastered across his face. Beside him stood Gillian and Priscilla, dressed in matching designer gowns, sipping champagne and soaking in the attention.

"After tonight, we are back on top," Priscilla purred, admiring her diamond-encrusted bracelet. "The Robertsons won't even be a footnote in the history of this city. And once Jasper's appeal goes through, we will reclaim everything."

"You played your cards well, Julian," Gillian added, her eyes gleaming with greed. "Using that little brat Toby as leverage was a stroke of genius. Hailey won't dare step foot in this building tonight."

Julian smiled, but his eyes remained sharp. "A temporary measure to ensure absolute cooperation. Hailey is smart, but a mother’s fear makes her weak. She will stay quiet, or she will never see her son again."

Suddenly, the heavy double doors of the VIP suite burst open.

Standing in the doorway, flanked by four armed Robertson security guards, was Hailey. She was wearing a blood-red, tailored tuxedo suit. Her hair was pulled back into a tight, flawless ponytail, and her eyes burned with a lethal, unyielding fire. Behind her, walking with a slow, menacing gait, was Finnley Robertson.

Gillian gasped, dropping her champagne glass, which shattered on the marble floor. Priscilla stepped back, her face turning pale.

"Hailey," Julian said, recovereing his composure quickly, though a flicker of unease crossed his face. "You’re a brave woman to show your face here. I assume you received my... invitation?"

"You tried to take my son, Julian," Hailey said, her voice incredibly quiet, yet it carried an weight that suffocated the room. "You sent thugs into my home. You broke my windows. You threatened a baby."

"I don't know what you're talking about," Julian sneered, stepping closer. "But if I were you, I’d think about where your priorities lie. The launch starts in five minutes. If you make a scene, things could get very difficult for your family."

"My priorities are exactly where they need to be," Hailey said, a cold, slow smile creeping onto her lips. "I didn't come here to make a scene, Julian. I came to watch you die."

Before Julian could reply, the stage manager poked his head into the room. "Mr. Vance, we’re live in sixty seconds. The board of directors and the press are waiting."

"Watch me," Julian whispered to Hailey, his confidence returning. "Watch how I take your legacy and burn it to the ground."

Julian walked out onto the main stage to a deafening roar of applause. Gillian and Priscilla followed, taking their seats in the front row, throwing triumphant, mocking glances back at Hailey, who stood quietly in the wings.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Julian’s voice boomed through the microphone. "Tonight, we introduce V-Nexus. A platform built on the visionary architecture of Vanguard Tech, now perfected by Vance Global. Let us initiate the live global integration."

Julian pressed a button on the glass podium. The screen behind him flashed, showing real-time data streams connecting Vance Global’s servers to major financial markets. The stock ticker in the corner showed Vance Global's shares spiking instantly by 15%.

"Now," Hailey whispered, standing next to the main technical control booth in the wings. She nodded to Marcus, who was sitting at a secure terminal, his fingers flying across the keyboard.

"Bypassing their firewall now, ma'am," Marcus muttered. "Julian’s team used the master key, but the back-door code is still active. I’m injecting the exploit."

On stage, Julian was mid-sentence when the golden V-Nexus logo on the massive screen suddenly flickered. The smooth, golden animations began to warp, turning a harsh, bleeding red.

"What is... ah, a minor technical glitch," Julian laughed nervously, turning to look at the screen.

But it wasn't a glitch. The system code began to scroll down the screen at blinding speed, visible to thousands of investors and millions watching the livestream. Then, a massive, bold red message flashed across the entire display:

"CRITICAL VIOLATION: PROTOCOL 'HA_1LEY' ACTIVATED. INITIATING COMPLETE SYSTEM PURGE."

"What is this? Turn it off!" Julian yelled toward the control booth, his face flushing with anger.

"I can't!" the lead technician screamed, frantically typing. "The system is locked! It’s deleting our entire database! The source code, the cloud backups, the financial records... everything is being wiped!"

In the front row, Gillian and Priscilla stood up, their faces frozen in horror as they watched the stock ticker in the corner of the screen begin to plummet. 15% gain turned into a 30% loss in a matter of seconds, wiping out billions of dollars in valuation.

Hailey stepped out from the wings, walking slowly onto the stage. The spotlights caught her blood-red suit, making her look like an avenging deity. She took a microphone from a stunned presenter.

"Julian Vance," Hailey's voice echoed through the massive hall, cutting through the rising panic. "You built your new empire on stolen code, secured by the threats of a coward. You wanted the power of the Robertson family, but you forgot that we don't just build kingdoms. We destroy those who try to steal them."

"You... you ruined me!" Julian roared, lunging toward her, but he was instantly tackled to the ground by three security guards.

"The police are waiting outside, Julian," Hailey said, looking down at him with absolute disgust. "For corporate espionage, conspiracy to kidnap, and financial fraud. Enjoy the ruin."
