Chapter 16 - The Final Reckoning in Bangkok

Dawn was breaking over the Gulf of Thailand, painting the horizon in streaks of violent crimson and gold.
Back at the abandoned maritime warehouse, Viktor Vance was pacing impatiently near the loading dock, waiting for confirmation from his estate operatives. Instead of a success report, his comms earpiece crackled with static, followed by the sound of sirens and heavy military rotor blades chopping through the air outside.
Viktor whipped around, drawing his sidearm, as the massive steel doors of the warehouse were blown inward with a deafening blast of controlled breaching charges.
Smoke billowed across the concrete floor. Through the clearing mist walked Evelyn. She wasn't wearing her trench coat anymore; she wore full, sleek black tactical gear, her face set in an expression of absolute, unyielding retribution.
"How... how are you here?!" Viktor shouted, raising his pistol with a shaking hand and aiming it directly at her chest. "My men were supposed to have your house surrounded!"
"Your men lacked imagination," Evelyn replied calmly, her footsteps echoing rhythmically as she advanced toward him. "And you lack originality, Viktor. You thought by threatening my family, you could force me to hand over a grid that I personally dismantled three years ago."
"I'll kill you!" Viktor screamed, pulling the trigger.
The shot cracked through the warehouse, but Evelyn had already anticipated the trajectory. With a fluid, lightning-fast sidestep, the bullet zipped past her shoulder harmlessly. Before Viktor could squeeze off a second round, Evelyn crossed the remaining distance in a fraction of a second.
She swept his legs out from under him, sending him crashing hard onto the concrete. As he gasped for air, Evelyn planted her combat boot firmly across his chest, pinning him down while pressing the barrel of her sidearm directly against his forehead.
"It's over, Viktor," Evelyn whispered, her voice carrying the terrifying weight of a final judgment. "The Vance name will no longer be tainted by parasites like you, Marcus, or Julian. The chapter is closed."

Federal international agents poured into the warehouse seconds later, securing the perimeter, apprehending Viktor's remaining operatives, and releasing Agent Miller from his bonds.
Viktor stared up at the woman he had underestimated, realizing too late that Agent Ghost wasn't just a legend—she was an inescapable force of nature.
