Chapter 10 - The Architect of Treachery

The glass doors didn't just open; they shattered completely as Evelyn kicked them inward with explosive force. Shards of crystal rained across the Persian rug as she stepped into the dining room, her silenced pistol raised and locked dead on Julian’s chest.
Julian didn't flinch. He didn't even drop his wine glass. He simply leaned back in his leather chair, a sickeningly confident smirk playing on his lips.
"Ah, Agent Ghost. Welcome home," Julian chuckled, taking a slow sip of his wine. "I must admit, you look slightly less glamorous covered in Zurich dust, but the murderous glare is as sharp as ever."
"Step away from my daughter," Evelyn ordered, her voice a low, lethal growl that vibrated through the silent room. "If you touch her, Julian, I will put a bullet through your skull before you can blink."
"Oh, I wouldn't do that if I were you," Julian replied smoothly, raising his left hand and gesturing to the nanny, Greta.
Greta calmly reached into her apron pocket and pulled out a small, military-grade detonator with a glowing red LED light.
"Meet Greta," Julian continued, smiling pleasantly. "Or should I call her by her Syndicate callsign, Viper? She’s been planted inside your staff network for over three months. That detonator isn't wired to blow up this house, Evelyn. It’s wired to the high-yield explosive charges currently planted beneath the foundation of the pediatric ward at Zurich General Hospital—where your daughter’s favorite pediatrician and a hundred innocent children are currently sleeping."
Evelyn’s breath hitched. Her eyes darted to Greta, then back to Julian. The cold calculation in Julian’s eyes confirmed he wasn't bluffing.
"You're insane," Evelyn whispered.
"I’m ambitious," Julian corrected, standing up slowly and adjusting his designer cuffs. "Marcus was an idiot. He relied on brute force and public scandals, which is why he failed. He thought he could steal your empire with a fake death certificate. But I realized something profound: you can't defeat Agent Ghost with paperwork. You have to trap her by holding her greatest weakness right in the palm of your hand."
Julian took a step forward, his eyes gleaming with mad triumph.
"Drop the gun, Evelyn. Kick it across the floor."
Evelyn stared at him, her mind working at superhuman speed, calculating angles, distances, reaction times, and satellite override codes. She couldn't shoot Julian without risking Greta pressing the detonator. She couldn't attack Greta without exposing Lily to the crossfire.
Slowly, deliberately, Evelyn bent her knees and laid her sidearm flat on the carpet, sliding it across the polished wood toward Julian’s feet.
"Smart girl," Julian laughed, stepping forward to kick the weapon aside. "Now, Greta, secure her."
Before Evelyn could react, Greta lunged forward with a pair of heavy tactical zip-ties, grabbing Evelyn’s arms to pin them behind her back. But underestimating Agent Ghost was a fatal mistake. Even without her weapon, Evelyn was a weapon herself.
With a sudden, explosive burst of kinetic energy, Evelyn dropped her weight, spun on her heel, and slammed her elbow directly into Greta’s solar plexus. The nanny gasped, the detonator flying from her hand as she collapsed backward over the dining chairs.

"Greta! Shoot her—!" Julian screamed, diving for the dropped pistol on the floor.
Evelyn didn't give him the chance. In three lightning-fast strides, she closed the distance, vaulted over the mahogany dining table, and landed squarely on Julian’s back, driving him face-first into the hardwood floor with a bone-rattling crash.
