Chapter 7 - The Hostile Takeover

The annual Sterling Group Shareholder Gala was the most prestigious corporate event of the year, held in the same grand ballroom where Beatrice had snapped Claraâs necklace just a week prior. Arthur and Beatrice stood on the main stage, confidently announcing a multi-billion-dollar merger that would solidify their absolute control over the market.
"And so, we usher in a new era of prosperity," Arthur announced into the microphone, basking in the thunderous applause of hundreds of investors.
"Not so fast, Arthur," a clear, powerful voice echoed from the back of the ballroom.
The heavy double doors swung open. Clara walked down the center aisle, dressed in a stunning, regal emerald-green gown that perfectly matched the color of her destroyed pendant. Beside her walked Julian and a team of federal federal marshals and independent auditors.
The crowd erupted into frantic whispers. Security guards rushed forward to stop her, but the federal marshals stepped in front, flashing their badges.

"Clara! How dare you show your face here after what you stole!" Beatrice shrieked into the microphone, her perfect composure completely shattering.
"I didn't steal anything, Beatrice," Clara said, walking up the stage stairs with absolute grace. "I simply went to the vault to collect what has always belonged to me."
