Chapter 19: The New Foundation
One year later.
The Whispering Pines Estate had been completely transformed. Clara had demolished the old grand ballroom—the place where her dress had been torn—and replaced it with a beautiful, glass-walled community art center and botanical garden.
Today was the grand opening. Hundreds of children from the local schools were running around, holding paints and brushes.
Clara stood on the terrace, watching them. Lucas walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"You did it, Clara," Lucas whispered. "You turned a place of malice into a place of joy."
"We did it," Clara corrected, turning around in his arms to face him.
Lucas smiled, his eyes full of warmth. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a simple, beautiful ring. It wasn't a massive diamond meant to show off wealth to socialites. It was a custom-designed platinum band, inlaid with a delicate strand of pure gold, matching the pattern of her Kintsugi dress.
"Clara Mason," Lucas said, his voice soft but filled with absolute certainty. "You’ve built an empire, you’ve conquered your past, and you’ve shown the world the true meaning of strength. Will you let me walk beside you for the rest of our journey? Will you marry me?"

Clara looked at the ring, then at the man who had supported her silently, loved her unselfishly, and respected her completely.
Tears of pure happiness filled her eyes. "Yes, Lucas. A thousand times yes."
