Chapter 11: The Trap Springs

Chapter 11: The Trap Springs
The very next day, the International Maritime Organization announced the immediate enforcement of the new "Green Horizon" shipping regulations.
Julian Vance’s office was hit with an immediate injunction. All twenty-four ships he had just purchased from the Whitlocks were barred from entering international waters. They were stuck in the harbor, loaded with perishable goods worth tens of millions of dollars.
Julian slammed his fists on his desk. "How did this happen? Why wasn't I notified about the timeline acceleration?"
His legal counsel trembled. "Sir... Clara Mason is the chief donor and chairperson of the Green Horizon Board. She approved the accelerated timeline yesterday afternoon."
Julian realized then that he had been played. Clara hadn't been trying to stop him from buying the fleet; she had baited him into spending thirty million dollars on useless metal.
Meanwhile, Patricia’s trial date was set. Clara refused any out-of-court settlement. She demanded the maximum sentence for felony property damage and harassment.

Patricia called Andrew in a panic. "Andrew! You have to do something! The lawyers say I could go to prison for three years! Speak to Clara! Beg her! Sleep with her if you have to! Just save me!"
Andrew looked at his reflection in the mirror. He was broke, unemployed, and his name was mud. He decided to play his final card: he would go to Clara’s private residence.
