Chapter 7 - Siege of the Vane Estate

The heavy snowfall muffled the sound of approaching vehicles as Marco Moretti’s forces breached the outer gates of the estate. High-powered explosives detonated at the perimeter wall, shaking the foundations of the mansion. Sirens blared, red emergency lights flashed through the corridors, and the sharp sound of automatic gunfire echoed from the front courtyards. Dante stormed into the study, his weapon drawn. "Boss! They’ve breached the southern wall! It’s a full assault!"

Lorenzo’s warmth vanished instantly, replaced by the lethal predator he had been for decades. He turned to Clara, who was clutching a terrified Lily. "Take her to the safe room beneath the wine cellar. Dante will guard the entrance. Do not come out until I open the door myself." Clara grabbed Lorenzo’s arm, her eyes filled with frantic worry. "Lorenzo, don't..." He placed a warm, reassuring hand over hers, his arctic eyes burning with absolute determination. "Nobody touches my family," he said firmly, before turning to face the darkness outside.

The siege was violent and relentless. Lorenzo led his men through the grand halls of his home, taking down intruder after intruder with ruthless efficiency. However, Marco Moretti had brought heavy firepower, slowly forcing Lorenzo’s men back into the main atrium. A grenade explosion shattered the grand staircase, leaving Lorenzo isolated on the upper balcony, taking fire from multiple angles. Blood soaked through his coat from a deep shrapnel wound, but he refused to yield, fighting with the savage fury of a man who finally had something priceless to lose.
