Chapter 7 - The Unraveling Lie

Julian opened his briefcase and pulled out a stack of authenticated financial records, medical documents, and recorded communication logs spanning six years.

"Your Honor," Julian began, his voice echoing with authority through the silent courtroom. "My client did not hide her pregnancy. When she discovered she was expecting, six weeks after the divorce, she attempted to contact Mr. Brooks at his office, his residence, and through his registered legal counsel. We have certified mail receipts, stamped and signed, sent to Mr. Brooks' address—all of which were returned unopened with handwritten notes from Mr. Brooks stating: 'Refused. Stop harassing me, leech.'"

A collective gasp echoed through the gallery. David’s face drained of color as Julian handed the certified receipts directly to the bailiff to present to the judge.

The judge’s expression turned stern as she reviewed the documents. She glared down at David and his attorney with intense anger.

"Mr. Stone," the judge said, her voice dripping with icy contempt. "Are you telling me that you submitted paid, fabricated testimony to this court?"

Stone stammered, shuffling his papers. "Your... Your Honor, we were under the impression that these statements were..."

"Silence!" the judge barked, slamming her gavel down hard. "Mr. Brooks, step up to the podium."

David stumbled forward, sweating profusely, his mind racing as he realized his trap had completely backfired.
