Chapter 1 - The Limo at the Steps

The sleek black limousine glided smoothly to the entrance of the hotel, its engine producing a barely audible hum against the backdrop of hushed murmurs. Guests turned away from the champagne fountain, their eyes glued to the tinted windows reflecting the golden morning light. David, holding Olivia’s hand near the grand arch of white orchids, chuckled softly, adjusting his expensive cufflinks.

"Watch this, babe," David whispered to Olivia, a smug grin curling his lips. "It’s probably my pathetic ex-wife. She probably rented that piece of junk with her life savings just to look decent for five minutes."

Olivia giggled, sipping her prosecco. "You’re terrible, David. But I can't wait to see what she's wearing."

The uniformed driver stepped out, straightened his cap, and pulled open the rear passenger door.

A high heel—sleek, red-bottomed, and exquisitely crafted—stepped onto the marble driveway. Out stepped Emily. She wore a tailor-made emerald silk gown that draped over her figure with effortless grace, complemented by a simple diamond necklace that caught the sunlight. Her hair fell in soft, radiant waves, and her aura radiated a quiet, unshakeable confidence that instantly silenced the crowd.

David’s smile froze. The smug laughter died in his throat.

Before he could process the breathtaking transformation of the woman he had abandoned, the driver opened the second door of the limousine. Out stepped three small children—two boys and a girl, roughly six years old. The boys wore sharp mini-tuxedos matching David’s style, while the little girl wore a ivory dress resembling a princess. Their features were unmistakable: sharp jaws, bright hazel eyes, and curls that mirrored David’s own childhood photos.

Emily took her children by their small hands, offering the gasping crowd a calm, elegant smile. She looked directly up the marble steps, locking eyes with David, whose face had turned entirely pale.

"David," Emily said, her clear voice carrying across the silent courtyard. "You sent an invitation. I wouldn't miss your special day for the world."
