Chapter 5 - The Desperate Plot

Within forty-eight hours, David’s life fell into complete ruin.

The story had gone viral across Facebook and local news outlets. Public backlash was swift; clients pulled their listings from his firm, and his investment partners demanded immediate buyouts to distance themselves from his scandal. Olivia officially broke off the engagement, and her father, Arthur, blocked David from entering any Vance properties.

Driven by a toxic mix of wounded pride, financial desperation, and a sudden, bitter obsession with gaining control over the triplets, David sought out a high-priced, unethical family lawyer named Marcus Stone.

Inside Stone’s dim office, David slammed his hands on the desk. "I want full custody of those three kids, Marcus! She kept them hidden from me for six years. That has to count as parental alienation!"

Stone leaned back, swirling his whiskey. "It’s a tough angle, David. She was the sole provider, she has clean records, and she’s wealthy now. But... if we can prove she’s an unfit mother, or if we can manufacture evidence that she purposefully hid the children to extort you later, we might be able to tie her up in court and force a massive settlement."

"Do whatever it takes," David growled, his face twisted with bitterness. "She made me a laughingstock in front of the whole town. I want her business, I want those kids, and I want her back in the gutter where she belongs."

Meanwhile, at Emily’s spacious estate on the outskirts of town, life was peaceful. The triplets—Liam, Ethan, and Lily—were playing in the yard under the watchful eye of their nanny, while Emily and Julian sat on the patio going over paperwork.

"David won't let this go, Emily," Julian warned gently, looking at her with deep concern. "A man like him, driven by pride, becomes dangerous when he loses everything. He will try to use the children to hurt you."

Emily looked out at her happy, healthy children, her eyes narrowing with fierce maternal protectiveness. "I worked eighteen hours a day to feed them when I didn't have a penny to my name, Julian. I fought off poverty alone. If David wants a war, he’s going to find out what a real mother is made of."
