Chapter 2 - Shockwaves

A wave of intense whispers swept through the wealthy wedding guests like wildfire. Olivia’s mother gasped, clutching her pearl necklace as she stared from the triplets to David. The physical resemblance was too striking to ignore; anyone with eyes could see that these three children belonged to the groom.
"David..." Olivia whispered, her voice laced with sudden panic as she yanked her hand back from his grip. "Who are those children? Why do they look like you?"
David couldn't speak. His mind was racing, trying to calculate the timeline, the costs, the sheer impossibility of what was standing before him. Years ago, he had thrown Emily out with nothing but a broken-down sedan and two hundred dollars. He had told all his wealthy friends that she was a lazy, uneducated burden who would never accomplish anything without him.
Yet here she stood, looking wealthier, happier, and infinitely more dignified than anyone in attendance—accompanied by three heirs he never knew existed.
Emily walked up the marble steps with measured, calm steps. The three children stayed close to her side, their manners impeccable as they observed the grand decorations.
"You... you lied to me," David stammered, stepping back slightly as Emily approached the top of the stairs. "You never told me you were pregnant!"
"You didn't leave a forwarding address, David," Emily replied coolly, her voice completely devoid of anger or bitterness. "When you handed me those divorce papers, you told me never to contact you again because my low-class existence was dragging your bright future down. I simply respected your wishes."
"This is insane!" Olivia snapped, her eyes flashing with anger as she confronted David. "Is this true?! Were you married to her while she was pregnant with your children?!"

"I didn't know, Olivia! I swear I didn't know!" David pleaded, his arrogant demeanor completely crumbling under the eyes of his father-in-law, Arthur Vance—a ruthless real estate tycoon whose financial backing David desperately needed for his next business venture.
Arthur stepped forward, his heavy brows furrowed as he stared down at David with total disgust. "Is this how you treat your own blood, David? You leave a mother alone with triplets while you parade around town spending my family's money?"
