Chapter 10 - The Sun in the Garden

One year later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the gardens of the Vancini estate. The heavy concrete walls were still there, but they were now covered in blooming green ivy and bright yellow climbing roses. The sound of automatic gunfire was a distant memory, replaced by the laughter of children and the gentle melody of classical music playing from the terrace.

In the center of the lawn, a large white marquee tent was decorated with thousands of white orchids and yellow sunflowers.

Dante Vancini stood at the altar under the sunlit pavilion, wearing a bespoke black tuxedo. Beside him stood Marco, fully recovered and wearing a proud smile.

The music shifted to a grand bridal march.

Sophia, seven years old now, walked down the aisle in a beautiful white flower-girl dress, tossing yellow rose petals onto the carpet. She was talking happily with the guests, her laughter bright and unfettered.

Then came Clara.

She moved gracefully down the aisle in an exquisite ivory lace gown that caught the sunlight like spun glass. She carried a bouquet of wild sunflowers and white roses. Her smile was radiant, her eyes fixed entirely on the man waiting for her at the end of the aisle.

Dante felt tears prick his eyes as she reached him. He took her hand in his, bowing his head to kiss her knuckles gently.

"You look breathtaking," Dante whispered, his voice thick with profound emotion.

"You don't look too bad yourself, Mr. Vancini," Clara teased softly, her heart overflowing with love.

The priest began the ceremony, but for Dante and Clara, the vows had already been written in blood, loyalty, and redemption long before today.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife," the priest declared. "You may kiss the bride."

Dante pulled Clara into his arms, dipping her back slightly as he kissed her deeply, amidst the cheers and applause of two hundred guests—a mixture of reformed business partners, loyal friends, and local community leaders.

As they pulled apart, Sophia ran up to them, throwing her small arms around both of their waists.

"Group hug!" Sophia shouted happily.

Dante laughed—a rich, genuine sound that echoed across the garden—and lifted both his wife and his daughter into his arms.

Clara looked up at the clear blue sky, feeling the warmth of the sun on her face. She remembered the scared, broke waitress who had drawn a chocolate heart on a pancake in a greasy diner two years ago, trying to give a little girl permission to hope.

She had sought to give a child a smile, and in return, she had found a family, a protector, and a home that no storm could ever destroy.
