Chapter 9 - REBIRTH

Six months passed.

The scandal that had once rocked New York’s elite society had finally settled. The Vale name was utterly wiped from the upper echelons of wealth, remembered only as a cautionary tale about arrogance and greed.

Victoria was sentenced to seven years in prison for extortion, wire fraud, and perjury. Stripped of all her wealth, jewels, and status, she spent her days working in the prison laundry room—a bitter twist of fate for a woman who once refused to let her servants speak in her presence.

Meanwhile, Evelyn had completely reclaimed her identity and transformed her life.

She stood on the balcony of her penthouse, watching the sunset over Manhattan. Her six-month-old twin boys, healthy, happy, and thriving, were laughing in their playpen nearby under the care of a devoted nanny.

Her phone chimed. It was a message from Julian.

‘The restructuring of Vance Global is complete. Shares are up 35%. You’ve officially been named Businessperson of the Year.’

Evelyn smiled softly. For five long years, she had lived in the shadow of a fake life, enduring subtle insults, emotional neglect, and constant belittlement just to maintain a fragile peace. She had learned a hard lesson: humility given to the wrong people is viewed as weakness.

A warm breeze blew across the terrace. She picked up little Alexander and Leo, holding them close to her heart.

“You’ll never have to bow to anyone,” she whispered into their tiny ears. “You will grow up knowing strength, dignity, and real love.”
