Chapter 4 - THE REVELATION

Victoria stormed forward, pointing a trembling, manicured finger at Evelyn. “You delusional little leech! How dare you sneak in here! Did you steal a pass? Where are my grandsons?! You belong in prison for kidnapping!”

Evelyn didn’t even glance at Victoria. She signaled Julian, who stepped forward and opened a projector screen.

“Allow me to introduce the Chief Executive Officer and principal shareholder of Vance Global Holdings,” Julian announced, his voice echoing through the silent boardroom. “Ms. Evelyn Vance-Sterling.”

A slide appeared on the wall behind her showing the corporate tree: Vance Global Holdings -> Sterling-Vale Logistics (85% majority stake) -> Greenwich Estates Trust.

Grant felt the floor under his feet dissolve. He stumbled backward, clutching the edge of a chair. “No... no, that’s impossible. Vance Global was founded by the Sterling family...”

“My family,” Evelyn said smoothly, leaning forward and resting her chin on her hands. “Five years ago, I wanted to know if a man could love me for who I was, not for my money. I created a humble identity—Evelyn Vale. I lived in a modest apartment. I met you. I thought you were genuine.”

She stood up slowly, her presence dominating the massive room.

“I funded your startup through anonymous venture capital,” Evelyn continued, taking a step toward them. “I bought the mansion you lived in so you wouldn’t feel insecure about housing. I covered your mother’s extravagant spending through hidden foundation grants. Every single luxury you enjoyed, every deal you closed, every elite club you joined was paid for by the woman you forced to sit at the foot of your dinner table!”

Victoria gasped, her face turning pale as ashes. “You... you paid for my foundation?”

“And last night,” Evelyn’s voice turned dangerously sharp, “you spat in my face. You called my sons bastards. You threw a woman who had just given birth into a snowstorm.”

Grant dropped to his knees, his face pale, sweat dripping down his forehead. “Evelyn... honey... please. I didn’t know! My mother pushed me into it! She was the one who hated you! I love you! I love our boys!”

“Don’t lower yourself, Grant!” Victoria shrieked, though her voice lacked conviction. “She’s lying! She’s trying to intimidate us!”

“Am I?” Evelyn smiled coldly. She pressed a key on her laptop. “Julian, file the corporate fraud charges against Grant Vale.”

“Wait! What fraud?!” Grant screamed, looking up in absolute terror.

“Over the last three years, you siphoned $14 million from Sterling-Vale Logistics into off-shore accounts to pay off your secret gambling debts in Macau,” Evelyn said softly. “I knew about it the whole time. I kept quiet because I thought you were stress-spending over the babies. But now? It’s criminal embezzlement.”
