CHAPTER 20: The Mama Bear

The revelation hit Danielle like a freight train, but she did not collapse. The days of letting David's toxic secrets dictate her life were over.

She looked down at the digital tablet, staring at the face of the man who had terrified her daughters. A microscopic flinch in her cheek was the only outward sign of the volcanic rage boiling in her blood.

"He thinks we are vulnerable," Danielle said, her voice dropping into a lethal, cinematic whisper. "He thinks because David is dead, there's no one left to protect this family."

She set the tablet down with a definitive, hollow clack against the marble counter.

"He is incredibly mistaken."

"We don't wait for him to come back," she commanded, her eyes burning with absolute resolve. "We find him. We end this. Tonight."
