Chapter 6 - The Unraveling

The boardroom fell into a dead, suffocating silence. Harrison Cole forced a dismissive laugh, attempting to regain control of the room as nervous glances passed among the directors.

"A pathetic stunt," Cole scoffed, leaning over the table. "You're a washed-up diner waitress who lost her mind and her children a year ago. Everyone in the city knows your medical history. You have zero legal standing here."

"My medical history was falsified by your payroll, Mr. Cole," Damian countered smoothly. He motioned to Reyes, who unlatched one of the secure briefcases and tossed a thick stack of verified documents across the mahogany table, scattering them directly in front of Cole.

Cole’s eyes dropped to the top page. It was an unredacted financial ledger tracing three million dollars from an offshore account registered under Cole’s personal alias directly to Dr. Evelyn Vance at St. Jude’s Memorial Hospital, dated fourteen months ago—the exact day of Noelle’s delivery.

"What... what is this?" Cole stammered, his face draining of all color.

"That," Damian said, leaning down so his face was inches from Cole’s, "is your indictment. Attached is the genetic profiling report proving that Noelle Bishop and I are the biological parents of the triplets you arranged to steal, stash, and use as political leverage against my empire."

Marcus Vance leaped to his feet, trying to salvage the sinking ship. "This is fabricated! These documents are hearsay! Mr. Cole has served this company faithfully—"

"Sit down, Marcus," Damian barked without even looking at him, a flick of his wrist signaling Reyes to tap his earpiece.

Through the massive wall-mounted smart screen at the front of the boardroom, the display flickered to life. A live video feed appeared, showing federal agents and local authorities swarming the private offshore medical facility in the Mediterranean where Dr. Evelyn Vance had fled. On the screen, Dr. Vance was handcuffed and being led toward a federal transport vehicle, looking directly into the camera.

“I confess,” Dr. Vance’s voice echoed through the boardroom speakers from the recorded interrogation feed. “Harrison Cole paid me to induce early labor, declare the infants deceased on hospital records, and divert them to his operatives. He wanted to destabilize Damian Marchetti from the inside.”

The room erupted into chaos. Compromised board members began packing their briefcases, realizing the game was over. Cole stood paralyzed, staring at the screen as his entire criminal conspiracy unraveled in real-time.

"Guards," Damian ordered calmly. "Escort Mr. Cole and Mr. Vance out of my building. Hand them over to the federal marshals waiting in the lobby."

As two elite security operatives grabbed Cole by the shoulders, dragging him kicking and screaming toward the double doors, Cole locked eyes with Noelle one last time. There was no triumph in Noelle’s eyes—only the cold, unyielding justice of a mother who had clawed her way back from the grave.
