Chapter 2 - The Classroom and the Storm

The silence in the courtyard ruptured into breathless murmurs as Julian stood up, taking Mia’s tiny hand in his left and resting his right hand protectively on Leo’s shoulder.
Together, the billionaire and the poor twins walked past the gaping crowd, through the polished glass doors, and directly into Classroom 3B.
Inside, the classroom was decorated with colorful banners and family photographs. The other fathers—surgeons, investment bankers, and real estate tycoons—stared in total disbelief as Julian Vance walked in wearing a child’s paper tie, holding a cheap cardboard trophy with pride.
When it came time for the children to present their fathers, Leo and Mia walked to the front of the room. Julian stood right behind them, his towering presence exuding absolute authority.
"This is our dad," Leo announced proudly, his voice no longer trembling. "He makes big inventions, but today he helped us carry our school project."
For the first time in their lives, the twins did not look down at their shoes in shame. They held their heads high, their smiles radiating pure joy.
However, outside the school gates, a different storm was brewing.
A local tabloid journalist had caught the entire interaction on video. Within two hours, the clip went viral across the globe under the headline: "Cold-Hearted Billionaire Julian Vance Adopts Poor Twins at Elite School!"
By 1:00 PM, as Julian was helping Mia cut out paper stars for an art project, his cell phone buzzed relentlessly. His executive assistant, Sarah, was frantic.
"Mr. Vance, it’s chaos out here!" Sarah reported through the phone. "Reporters are swarming the school! But that’s not the worst of it... the media tracked down the twins' mother, Clara Miller. She was pulled out of her shift at the diner by reporters, and she has no idea what's happening!"
Julian’s jaw tightened. "Keep the media off the school grounds, Sarah. Bring my private security detail to the rear exit. I’m taking Clara and the kids somewhere safe."

Julian turned to the twins, who were looking at him with worried eyes. "Is Mommy in trouble?" Mia asked softly.
Julian knelt down again, smoothing back her hair. "No, sweetheart. Mommy is brave, just like you. And starting today, nobody is ever going to intimidate your family again."
