Chapter 6: The Trap is Sprung

Chapter 6: The Trap is Sprung

It was the night of the annual Harrington Charity Gala, a massive event held at the city's grand convention center. Alexander was required to host, and for safety, he decided to bring Lily along, keeping her in a secure, private VIP suite backstage guarded by Marcus and his men.
Clara stayed with Lily, playing board games to keep the little girl entertained.
"Look, Miss Clara! I won again!" Lily cheered, moving her game piece.
Clara laughed, ruffling her hair. "You're too good at this, Lily."
Suddenly, the lights in the VIP suite flickered and went completely dark. The hum of the building's backup generator failed to kick in. Outside the door, a muffled scuffle was heard, followed by a heavy thud.
Clara’s instincts immediately flared. She stood up, shielding Lily behind her. "Lily, stay behind me. Don't make a sound."
The door was kicked open. Two men in tactical gear and ski masks burst in, holding tasers. Before Clara could scream, one of the men grabbed her, pinning her arms back.
"Let her go! Daddy!" Lily cried out as the second man snatched her from the couch, covering her mouth with a cloth laced with chloroform. Within seconds, the little girl went limp.

"Hey! Drop the kid!" Marcus, bleeding from a head wound, staggered into the doorway, but the first mercenary shot him with a high-voltage taser, dropping him to the ground.
They threw Clara to the floor, knocking her unconscious with the butt of a weapon, and vanished into the darkness with the billionaire’s daughter.
