Chapter 9 - THE ROYAL WEDDING OF NEW YORK

Six months later.
The historic St. Patrick's Cathedral was transformed into a paradise of white roses, soft candlelight, and classical orchestral music. Over five hundred distinguished guests filled the pews—diplomats, legal figures, international business partners, and long-time allies of the Moretti family.
Standing at the front of the altar was my brother, Leo, dressed in a sharp tuxedo, looking healthy, proud, and happy. Beside him stood Signora Sofia Moretti, wearing a magnificent royal blue gown, her eyes shining with joyous tears as she watched the doors at the back of the cathedral open.
Lorenzo stood at the altar beside Matteo, looking unimaginably handsome in a bespoke black tuxedo. When his eyes met mine, his breathless reaction was caught by every photographer in the room.
I walked down the aisle on the arm of a retired federal judge—a close friend of my late father who had insisted on walking me down the aisle to honor my father's memory. My wedding dress was a masterpiece of white lace and silk, featuring a long, flowing train and a veil that shimmered like starlight under the stained-glass windows.
When I reached the altar, Lorenzo took my hand into his. His fingers were slightly warm, his gaze locked onto mine with a fierce, unwavering devotion.
"You are breathtaking, Clara," he whispered softly, his voice trembling with love.
"And you look like a man who finally got everything he wanted," I whispered back with a soft smile.

The ceremony was a beautiful blur of sacred vows, traditional Italian prayers, and profound promises. When the Archbishop declared us husband and wife, Lorenzo didn't wait—he pulled me into his arms, dipping me slightly as he pressed his lips to mine in a passionate, triumphant kiss that brought the entire cathedral to its feet in thunderous applause.
As we walked back down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Moretti, hand in hand, the golden sunlight streamed through the arched doors, illuminating our path forward into a bright, boundless future.
