Chapter 10 - THE GOLDEN LEGACY

One year later.

The grand courtyard of the Belvedere Estate was filled with laughter, music, and the delicious scent of fresh Italian cuisine.

We were celebrating the grand opening of the Arthur Bennett Foundation for Justice—a non-profit organization funded entirely by Moretti International, dedicated to providing free top-tier legal representation and financial aid to innocent families targeted by organized crime and corporate corruption.

Guests mingled near the grand fountains, while Signora Moretti sat under an oak tree, happily telling stories to my brother Leo and his college friends.

I stood near the edge of the terrace, wearing an elegant emerald green silk dress that gracefully draped over my soft, curved belly. I was seven months pregnant with our first child—a little boy whom we had already decided to name Arthur, after my father.

Lorenzo walked out from the terrace doors, carrying two glasses of fresh sparkling apple cider. He slipped his arm around my waist, pulling me back against his chest, placing his large, warm hand gently over my bump.

"How is my little CFO doing today?" Lorenzo murmured, kissing the shell of my ear.

"He's kicking," I laughed softly, leaning my head back against his shoulder as I felt the small, distinct flutter inside me. "I think he approves of the party."

"He has good taste, just like his mother," Lorenzo smiled, resting his cheek against mine as we looked out over the crowded, happy courtyard.

"Looking at all of this," I said quietly, looking up at the grand estate, the happy faces, and the clear blue sky above us, "it's hard to believe that two years ago I was standing in a restaurant with thirty dollars to my name, terrified of the future."

Lorenzo turned me gently in his arms, looking down at me with a love so deep and powerful it took my breath away. He reached up, his fingers lightly brushing a stray lock of hair behind my ear.

"You were never just a waitress, Clara," Lorenzo said softly, his dark eyes sparkling with eternal devotion. "You were a queen who had simply lost her crown for a moment. I just happened to be the luckiest man in the world who was there to help you pick it up."

I smiled, raising my glass to touch his in a soft, quiet toast.

"To the courage to stand up," I said softly.

"And to the love that brings us home," Lorenzo replied.

He leaned down, pressing his lips to mine in a slow, sweet, timeless kiss as the golden sun set over our home, sealing a destiny that had transformed pain into power, darkness into light, and a brave little waitress into the loved and adored matriarch of an unbreakable legacy.
