Chapter 7 - The Collapse of the Moretti Dynasty

Donato’s hand tightened around the silver handle of his cane until his knuckles turned paper-white. "You bluff, Castillo. The biometric keys require—"

"They require us," Elena interrupted, stepping forward until she stood at the edge of the stone portico. "We activated the sequence ten minutes ago from the isolated terminal in the master vault. The dual-key protocol has cleared. Every account, every routing number, every encrypted conversation your syndicate used to buy judges and politicians is currently being broadcast across sixty-five international law enforcement nodes."

As if on cue, the distant sound of sirens began to echo through the valley.

Not the lone, desperate siren of a local police cruiser, but the deep, synchronized roar of an international tactical task force. Through the main gates, a fleet of blue-and-white armored vehicles breached the perimeter, their headlights cutting through the gray morning like the eyes of a righteous judgment.

Donato looked back toward the road, then down at his cane. For the first time in his life, the old billionaire looked his age. His shoulders sagged, the myth of his invincibility evaporating into the cold rain.

"You've destroyed everything," Donato whispered, his voice cracking. "The market... the banks... they will hunt you down for this, Alejandro. You won't survive the fallout."

"Let them try," Alejandro said, stepping down from the porch to stand directly in front of the old man. "I survived three years of thinking my wife was dead. There is nothing on this earth that can terrify me now."

Two federal agents stepped out of the lead armored vehicle, their weapons drawn, badges gleaming through the downpour. "Donato Moretti, you are under arrest for international conspiracy, human trafficking, and corporate sabotage. Step away from the vehicle."

The old man didn't fight. He dropped his cane into the mud, his hands rising slowly as the steel cuffs clicked around his wrists.

As he was led away, Vivian was brought down from the front doors by Marcus, her face a mask of tears and smeared makeup, screaming curses at both Alejandro and Elena as she was thrown into the back of a separate transport vehicle.

The estate fell silent again, the storm finally beginning to break as a single sliver of pale morning sunlight cut through the purple clouds.

Alejandro turned to his wife. He didn't say a word. He simply reached out, his long arms wrapping around her waist, lifting her off her feet as he buried his face into her shoulder. Elena held him back, her fingers tangling in his hair, her tears mixing with the rain on his face.

"It’s over," she whispered against his ear. "We’re clean, Alejandro. The ledger is clear."
