Chapter 5 - Sacrifices and Shadows

Sarah scrambled up a stack of old crates, pushing the rusty iron latch of the coal chute open. She hoisted Leo up first. The boy cried out, reaching for his mother, but she pushed him through into the cool night air. "Run to the woods, Leo! Don't look back!" she screamed, before climbing up herself.
Down below, the basement had turned into absolute chaos. Colt was a force of nature. He used the concrete pillars for cover, exchanging heavy gunfire with Victor’s remaining men. He took a grazing bullet to the shoulder, the leather of his vest tearing away, blood soaking his shirt, but he didn't even flinch. The adrenaline of survival and pure protective instinct kept him moving.
He managed to drop two more of the attackers, but Victor himself stepped onto the landing, holding a flashbang grenade. Victor pulled the pin and dropped it down the stairs.
A blinding flash and a deafening roar consumed the basement. Colt was thrown backward by the concussive force, his ears ringing, his vision blurring into a haze of white and grey. His rifle slipped from his hands.
Through the smoke, Victor walked down the stairs, his boots making the same rhythmic thud Colt’s had earlier. He smiled cruelly, stepping over the bodies of his own men. He stopped right above Colt, pointing a sleek black pistol at the biker's head.

"You fought well for a stranger," Victor sneered, looking around the empty basement. "But the girl and the box are gone, which means you're useless to me now."
Victor pulled the trigger. But instead of a gunshot, a deafening roar echoed from outside the coal chute window. The ground vibrated. It wasn't the sound of a gun—it was the unmistakable, thunderous collective roar of thirty Harley-Davidson engines tearing into the backyard. Colt’s club, the Iron Outlaws, had arrived, and they brought the wrath of hell with them.
