Chapter 3 - No Way Out

The headlights of the arriving SUVs cut through the dirty windows of the house, casting long, menacing shadows across the walls. Colt’s radio clicked on his vest—his club members, who had been riding a few miles behind him, were trying to patch through, but the signal was jammed. The Syndicate had brought electronic countermeasures. They weren't playing games.

Marcus, recovering from Colt's blow, began to laugh hysterically from the hallway. "You're dead, biker boy! They're here. You should've minded your own business!" His laughter was cut short as Colt stepped out, grabbed him by the collar, and dragged him into the bedroom, throwing him onto the floor next to Sarah.

"Listen to me carefully," Colt whispered to Sarah, using a tactical knife to slice through her zip-ties in one swift motion. "I don't care who they are. Nobody touches a kid under my watch. Can you run?"

Sarah nodded, clutching her wrists, though she was visibly weak. Colt handed her a small, concealed silver pistol from his ankle holster. "If anyone comes through that back window, use it."

Outside, the heavy thud of car doors closing signaled the threat was imminent. Colt peered through the blinds. Six men, heavily armed and wearing tactical vests, were advancing on the porch. The leader was a scarred man named Victor, a notorious enforcer known for leaving no witnesses.

Colt knew he couldn't fight six armed men in a frontal assault while protecting a woman and a child. He needed a distraction. He grabbed the steel briefcase, slamming it shut. "This is what they want," Colt said. He looked at Leo, who was trembling in the corner. "Leo, buddy, I need you to be a big brave boy. Take your mom’s hand. We’re going to the basement."

As Victor’s men kicked down the remaining remnants of the front door, Colt threw a heavy wooden dresser across the hallway to block their line of sight, buying them precious seconds. He ushered Sarah and Leo down the narrow basement stairs, locking the heavy oak door behind them. The hunt was on, and the house was about to become a war zone.
