Chapter 9 - The Legacy Restored

The reception was a joyous blur of dancing, heartfelt speeches, and endless laughter.

At eight o'clock, Arthur held a champagne glass and tapped it gently with a silver spoon, bringing the grand marquee to a respectful silence. He stood beside Maria, his arm wrapped securely around her waist, while Leo sat on his uncle’s shoulders nearby.

"Thank you, everyone, for being here tonight," Arthur spoke into the microphone, his warm voice carrying across the room. "Tonight is not just a celebration of a marriage. It is a celebration of a new beginning."

He looked down at Maria, his eyes full of pride.

"In honor of my wife, Maria Vance, and her unwavering dedication to protecting vulnerable children, Vance Global is officially launching the Sanchez-Vance Foundation tonight," Arthur announced.

A murmur of pleasantly surprised gasps ran through the crowd.

"The foundation will be endowed with a twenty-million-dollar fund," Arthur continued, "dedicated exclusively to providing free legal defense, safe housing, and educational scholarships for children and single mothers caught in domestic abuse and financial exploitation."

The entire room erupted into a standing ovation. Maria looked up at her husband in absolute shock, her hands pressing against her heart, overwhelmed by the grand, selfless gesture.

"You... you did this for me?" Maria whispered as the applause continued around them.

"I did this for us," Arthur smiled softly, kissing her forehead. "So that no child ever has to suffer the fear that Leo almost faced, and no mother ever has to feel helpless."

Rosa Sanchez stood among the crowd, crying openly tears of profound gratitude as she watched her daughter being honored by the most powerful family in the city.

As the night drew to a close, Arthur, Maria, and Leo walked out onto the peaceful marble terrace overlooking the estate’s grand gardens. The fairy lights twinkled in the trees like stars, and the crisp autumn night air felt clean and refreshing.

Leo leaned against the balustrade, looking up at the moon. "Maria?"

Maria walked over, leaning down beside him. "Yes, sweetie?"

"Are we always going to live here together?"

Maria wrapped her arm around the boy, pulling him close against her side. "Always, Leo. This is our home now, forever and ever."

Arthur walked up behind them, placing his hands gently on Maria’s shoulders, pulling his family close against his chest as they looked out over the illuminated gardens.
