Chapter 8 - The Grand Celebration

Six months later. Early Autumn.
The grand gardens of the Vance estate were transformed into a paradise of white orchids, warm fairy lights, and gold silk drapes.
Over two hundred guests—including high-ranking city officials, trusted corporate partners, and close personal friends—gathered under the massive glass marquee set up on the manicured lawn. The air was filled with the sweet music of a live string quartet and the gentle clinking of champagne flutes.
Standing near the marble altar at the head of the garden path was Arthur Vance.
He wore a tailored black tuxedo, looking remarkably handsome, his dark eyes shining with an anticipation he couldn't hide. Beside him stood his brother, serving as his best man, and right in front of them stood little Leo, dressed in a matching mini-tuxedo, holding a velvet pillow with two gleaming wedding bands.
"Nervous, big guy?" his brother teased softly, leaning over.
Arthur smiled, watching the entrance of the garden path. "I’ve faced down corporate takeovers and federal trials, but my heart has never beaten this fast in my life."
The music shifted into a breathtaking, slow arrangement of a classic bridal march.
The guests stood up, turning toward the rose garden entrance.
Walking down the white carpet, supported on the arm of her glowing, healthy mother, Rosa Sanchez, was Maria.
She looked like a vision from a dream. Her wedding gown was a masterpiece of delicate ivory lace, trailing gently behind her on the grass. Her dark hair was styled in an elegant updo adorned with small white pearls, her face radiant with a pure, unadulterated beauty that took the breath away from everyone in attendance.
Rosa smiled proudly, her eyes glistening with happy tears as she led her daughter down the aisle, handing her hand over to Arthur at the altar.
"Take care of my girl, Arthur," Rosa whispered in her sweet, accented voice.
"With my life, Rosa," Arthur promised softly.
Maria stepped up to the altar, taking Arthur’s hands in hers. As their eyes met, the rest of the world seemed to melt away into irrelevance.
The elderly judge, a longtime personal friend of the Vance family, smiled down at the couple.
"We are gathered here today," the judge began, his voice echoing warmly through the garden, "to unite two souls who have proven that true love, integrity, and courage can overcome the darkest storms."
The vows were simple, spoken from the depths of their hearts.
"Maria," Arthur spoke, his deep voice thick with emotion, holding her hand tightly. "You came into my life during my darkest hour. You brought warmth to my home, protection to my son, and light to my soul. I promise to love you, honor you, and shield you from every harm for as long as I live."
Maria wiped a happy tear from her cheek, looking into his eyes. "Arthur, you showed me what true noble courage looks like. You stood by me when I had nothing to offer but my truth. I promise to love you, care for our family, and walk beside you through every joy and challenge life brings us."
"The rings, please," the judge smiled.
Leo stepped forward proudly, holding up the velvet pillow with a massive grin. Arthur and Maria took the rings, sliding them onto each other’s fingers—a permanent symbol of their unbreakable bond.
"By the authority vested in me," the judge announced proudly, "I now pronounce you husband and wife! Arthur, you may kiss your bride!"

Arthur didn't hesitate. He pulled Maria gently into his arms, dipping her slightly as he pressed his lips to hers in a breathtaking, passionate kiss that sent a thunderous roar of applause and cheers erupting from the gathered guests.
Leo jumped up and down, clapping his hands wildly as his parents embraced under the canopy of white orchids.
