Chapter 5 - The Grand Boardroom Ambush

The grand boardroom of Romano Continental Logistics sat on the top floor of the historic Customs House near the Battery, overlooking the gray, churning waters of the Atlantic. It was a space designed to project timeless mafia power—heavy walnut walls, oil paintings of dead patriarchs, and an air of absolute authority.

On Wednesday morning, the entire Romano family hierarchy was assembled. Uncle Raymond sat at the head of the table, his son Anthony beside him, both men smiling as they reviewed the final integration documents for the Vance merger. Victor and Lucille Romano sat near the window, looking like royalty who had successfully managed another generation of dominance.

The heavy double doors swung open without a warning.

Bianca entered first. She wore a flawless, tailored cream suit that elegant accented her posture, her dark hair pulled back in a severe, professional knot. She carried a single, silver flash drive in her right hand.

Following right behind her was Dante Vance, accompanied by six armed security operatives in dark tactical gear. The room instantly went dead silent, the smiles evaporating from Raymond and Anthony’s faces.

"Bianca? What is the meaning of this?" Victor demanded, standing up, his cane rattling against the floor. "This is a private board meeting for the Romano executives. Your husband has no voting rights in this room until the final asset transfer is executed."

"There isn't going to be an asset transfer, Dad," Bianca said, her voice echoing through the massive room with a chilling, crystalline clarity. She walked straight to the main projector terminal and slid the silver drive into the port.

The massive wall monitors flared to life.

Instead of the logistics integration data, the screens displayed the offshore bank records of Dr. Elliot Ferris, the original 1950 Romano trust bylaws, and the forensic deletion logs from the family’s private server.

"Three years ago, this family committed an act of fraud that carries a minimum federal sentence of twenty years," Bianca said, looking directly at her Uncle Raymond, whose face had turned the color of wet chalk. "You fabricated a medical diagnosis to strip me of my legal inheritance. You told the world I was barren so you could activate the grandfather clause and retain control of the voting shares."

"This is absurd!" Lucille cried out, her voice shrill as she stood up, her hand flying to her pearls. "Bianca, you are hysterical! You are bringing false accusations against your own flesh and blood because you can't accept your medical reality!"

"My reality is perfectly fine, Mother," Bianca said, a cold, triumphant smile finally touching her lips. She stepped to Dante’s side, and he placed his massive hand firmly on her lower back, drawing her close. "In fact, my reality is so fine that I am currently four weeks pregnant with the sole heir to the Vance and Romano empires."

A collective gasp rippled through the boardroom.

Anthony Romano stood up, his hand reaching toward his jacket lining, his eyes wild with panic. "She’s lying! It’s a trick to stall the merger! Dante, you’re letting this crazy bitch play you—"

Before Anthony could pull his weapon, Dante moved with a speed that defied his massive build. He drew his own weapon, a sleek, silenced automatic, and leveled it directly at Anthony’s forehead. The security operatives raised their rifles in perfect unison, their red laser sights dotting the chests of every Romano uncle in the room.

"Finish that movement, Anthony," Dante said, his voice a low, terrifying growl that made the younger man freeze instantly. "And I will paint these walnut walls with your brains before your father can say his prayers. You thought you could use my wife as a tool? You thought you could brand my queen as broken to protect your pathetic little theft?"

Dante stepped forward, the absolute authority of the Iron Sovereign radiating from him like a physical heat.

"The federal prosecutors have already received the complete unredacted data dump from Ferris’s servers," Dante continued, his hazel eyes locking onto Victor Romano. "Your family is done, Victor. The shipping lanes belong to Bianca now. The trust defaults to her today. You have exactly ten minutes to sign the complete resignation forms, or my men will turn this boardroom into a slaughterhouse, and the feds will clean up what’s left."

Victor Romano looked at the monitors, then looked at his daughter. For the first time in his life, he looked completely beaten—a small, old man who had traded his greatest treasure for a lie, only to watch it destroy him.

With trembling fingers, Victor reached for the pen.
