Chapter 10 - The Prince’s Castle

One Year Later
The crisp autumn air of October carried the scent of woodsmoke and fallen leaves across the Greenwich estate.
In the newly renovated west wing, light poured through expansive glass windows into a warm, cheerful playroom.
Five-year-old Lily sat on a plush velvet rug, carefully reading a picture book to her six-month-old baby brother, Gabriel Whitmore, who was happily babbling and kicking his little feet in a wooden cradle.
Clara stood by the window, wearing a cozy cream sweater, holding a cup of warm tea, watching the golden leaves fall over the garden where she had once scrubbed stone steps.
A pair of strong, familiar arms wrapped around her waist from behind, and Ethan rested his chin on her shoulder, drawing her close against his chest.
“What are you thinking about, my love?” Ethan murmured, kissing the side of her neck softly.
Clara leaned back against his solid warmth, looking at their reflection in the window glass—a family whole, safe, and deeply blessed.
“I was thinking about that stormy Thursday night,” Clara admitted softly, turning in his arms to look up into his beautiful gray eyes. “About how close we came to never finding each other.”
Ethan reached up, gently brushing a strand of dark hair behind her ear, his eyes overflowing with endless devotion.
“The truth always finds its way, Clara,” Ethan said softly. “Your daughter was brave enough to call me, but you were the one who had the courage to stay and change my life.”
He leaned down, pressing his lips to hers in a slow, sweet kiss that tasted of love, safety, and forever.
Down on the rug, little Lily looked up from her book, saw her parents holding each other, and giggled softly, turning back to her baby brother.

“See, Gabriel?” Lily pointed to a drawing of a castle in her book. “I told you. This really is a prince’s castle. And we’re going to live happily ever after.”
Out in the garden, the sun broke through the autumn clouds, casting a golden light over the Whitmore mansion—a place where love had conquered cruelty, truth had dismantled lies, and a maid and her daughter had finally found their home.
