Chapter 8 - THE HEIR TO THE EMPIRE

Ten years later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the grounds of the Moretti estate.

Inside the grand study where a four-year-old girl had once saved a dying Don, fourteen-year-old Emma Moretti sat at the massive mahogany desk. She was tall, radiant, and possessed an fierce intelligence in her dark eyes.

On the desk sat her old pink rabbit backpack, preserved carefully inside a glass display case—a permanent reminder of courage, sacrifice, and the day everything changed.

The door opened, and Alejandro, now in his late forties with distinguished silver hair at his temples, walked into the room. He wore a crisp blue suit, holding a leather folder.

“Are you ready for your first board meeting, Emma?” Alejandro asked with a proud smile.

Emma stood up, smoothing down her navy blazer. She had spent the last five years studying business, logistics, and international law under the personal guidance of the city’s top tutors.

“I’m ready, Dad,” Emma smiled.

She walked over to him, taking his arm as they stepped out into the grand hallway.

In the courtyard below, Elena was playing with five-year-old Lucas—Emma’s little brother, born three years after Alejandro and Elena were married. The mansion rang with the happy, bright sounds of children laughing, music playing, and life thriving.

As Emma and Alejandro walked down the sweeping marble staircase toward the waiting motorcade, Alejandro looked down at his daughter.

“Ten years ago,” Alejandro said softly, “a doctor told me my life was over in that study.”

Emma squeezed his arm tight, her eyes sparkling with warmth and pride.

“And a four-year-old maid’s daughter told him he was wrong,” Emma smiled.

Alejandro kissed her forehead as they stepped out into the bright morning sunlight.

“You didn't just save my life, Emma,” Alejandro whispered. “You gave us a future.”
