Chapter 9 - The Sweetest Victory

Six months after the court settlement, Elise’s architectural firm officially launched its first major commercial restoration project in downtown Lexington.
To celebrate, Margaret and Theodore hosted a grand family dinner in the formal dining room of the Sinclair estate—the very room where Nathan’s lies had first begun to unravel nearly a year ago.
This time, the table was overflowing with laughter, glowing candlelight, and the rich, decadent scent of a homemade chocolate cake baked by Margaret’s own hands.
Ethan was talking animatedly about his upcoming college applications, while Lily proudly showed off her ribbon from the regional school art fair.
Margaret walked over to where Elise was standing by the French doors, looking out over the moonlit gardens. Margaret gently placed a hand on Elise’s shoulder, smiling warmly.
"You did it, my dear," Margaret whispered. "You saved your family."
Elise turned, wrapping her arms around her former mother-in-law—who was now, more than ever, a true mother in every sense of the word. "We saved each other, Margaret."
