Chapter 6 - The Confrontation in the Grand Foyer

Richard quickly forced a arrogant, dismissive laugh, though a bead of sweat glistened on his forehead. "This is absolute madness. Marcus, you're completely out of your mind. You've hired a trespasser and a lunatic to make baseless accusations. Dr. Vance here has certified your mental instability. The police are already en route to enforce this court order!"

"Let them come, Richard," I said quietly, walking down the marble staircase one step at a time, my eyes locked onto his.

Right on cue, Calvin’s chief security operator stepped out from the side corridor leading from the east wing. In his gloved hands, he held a sealed, clear biohazard bag containing three small glass dropper bottles and a handwritten ledger recovered from Hilda's quarters.

"We located the digitalis compound hidden behind the wall panel in Ms. Dawson's bathroom," the officer stated clearly. "Along with her private log tracking the daily dosages administered to the children."

Hilda’s composed face instantly shattered. Color drained from her skin, and she took an instinctive step backward toward the exit, but Calvin’s guards immediately blocked the doors.

"You're lying!" Richard barked, turning fiercely onto Dr. Vance. "Vance, tell them the legal order is absolute!"

Dr. Vance looked at the tactical guards, then at the labeled vials of heart medication, his professional posture completely collapsing. "I... I was told Mr. Alvarez was violent and delusional! I had no knowledge of... of any illegal medications!"

"Shut your mouth, Vance!" Richard snapped furiously. He turned back to me, his eyes dark with desperation. "You think this changes anything, Marcus? You have no hard financial trail linking those vials to me! Hilda acts independently!"

"Don't I?" I pulled out Elena’s diary and tapped a command on my phone, linking it to the estate's master audio and display system.

The large digital screen above the foyer fireplace lit up, displaying encrypted bank transaction logs pulled from Calvin's off-site server audit.

"Ten minutes ago, my legal team verified these wire transfers," I said, pointing to the screen. "Direct monthly payments from your offshore account in Grand Cayman to Hilda Dawson’s private account—labeled under the project code 'Iron Cradle'."

Richard’s breath hitched in his throat. He looked around the room like a trapped animal.

"You made a fatal mistake, Richard," I said, stepping onto the main foyer floor right in front of him. "You assumed that losing Elena would shatter me forever. You thought I was too broken by grief to see what was happening. But a father's love isn't a weakness you can exploit. It is an absolute force."

Outside, the loud, wailing sirens of multiple police cruisers echoed down the long private drive. Red and blue emergency lights flashed violently through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the estate entrance.

I had contacted the State Police and the District Attorney's office twenty minutes prior, transmitting the complete digital dossier Calvin had assembled.
