Chapter 5 - The Fall of Victoria Harrington

The arrest of Victoria Harrington became the trial of the century, but it didn't last nearly as long as she hoped.
Nathan released every piece of evidence to the authorities—the high-definition security footage his team recovered from hidden basement cameras she thought were turned off, the medical reports of sedatives, and the testimony of the household staff who were finally freed from her blackmail.
The public horror was absolute. The beloved philanthropist, the style icon, the "perfect mother" was revealed to be a cold, calculating abuser.
During the preliminary hearing, Victoria sat at the defense table, stripped of her designer dresses, wearing a plain orange jumpsuit. Her slick lawyers tried to argue diminished capacity and stress, but the overwhelming physical evidence left no room for doubt.
When the judge denied her bail, citing her immense wealth and extreme risk of flight, Victoria finally snapped. She turned toward Nathan in the gallery, screaming curses, blaming him for never being home, blaming the children for ruining her life.

The composure that had defined her for decades was completely gone. The world saw the monster beneath the mask.
Nathan didn't look back at her as guards dragged her away. His only focus was on the three little souls sitting in the waiting room behind the courtroom.
