Chapter 8 - Reclaiming My Life

With the trial behind me, the healing process truly began.
I sold the house—the place that had been my prison for three years—and donated 100% of the proceeds to a local shelter for victims of domestic abuse. I didn't want a single cent of Daniel’s cursed legacy.
One evening, I sat on the balcony of my new apartment, overlooking the city skyline. The air was cool, and for the first time in years, I didn't feel the crushing weight of anxiety pressing down on my chest.
Lena walked out, handing me a glass of wine.
"You did it, Clara," she said, raising her glass. "They are locked away, the money is secure, and you have your life back."
"I don't just have my life back, Lena," I said, a genuine smile forming on my lips. "I have a new purpose."
