Chapter 6 - A New Dawn

Six months later.
The Castillo mansion was no longer a place of dark secrets. Alejandro had completely renovated the estate, tearing down the old walls and replacing them with floor-to-ceiling glass to let the sunlight flood into every room. The sub-basement had been filled with concrete, buried forever.
Vivian Moretti and Dr. Charles Vance had been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for kidnapping, corporate fraud, and the first-degree murder of Alejandroâs father. The corrupt staff members were facing decades behind bars as accomplices.
On a warm, sunny afternoon, Alejandro stood on the back terrace, looking out over the ocean. Two arms wrapped gently around his waist. He turned and smiled down at Elena.
She looked radiant. Her hair had grown out, the bruises were long gone, and the haunting fear in her eyes had been replaced by peace. Through months of intensive therapy and Alejandroâs unwavering love, she had reclaimed her life.
"What are you thinking about?" Elena asked softly, resting her head against his chest.
"Just thinking about how lucky I am," Alejandro whispered, kissing the top of her head. "I spent three years looking across the globe, but my home was always wherever you were. I'm just glad you're finally back."

Elena smiled, looking at her bare feet, then up at the clear blue sky. "I'm not looking back anymore, Alejandro. We have the rest of our lives to build a real home."
He pulled her into a deep, passionate kiss, a silent vow that he would spend every day of the rest of his life protecting the woman who had fought through hell to come back to him.
