Chapter 4 - The House of Mirrors

The raid on the safe house was clean, professional, and brutal. Enzo didn't lead it himself; he stayed with Harper, keeping her safe in the car while his men turned the property inside out.
When they came back out, they didn't have just ledgers. They had a woman—a woman who had been Preston’s personal assistant for twenty years. A woman who looked terrified, but relieved.
Her name was Elena.
"I have proof," Elena told Enzo in the DeLuca estate library, her hands shaking. "I have video. I have voice recordings. He’s a monster. I just didn't know how to stop him."
Harper sat across from her. It was the first time Harper had spoken to someone who had seen the truth of her father’s life.
"Why now?" Harper asked.
"Because he’s planning to leave the country," Elena said. "He’s liquidating everything. He plans to disappear, leaving everyone else to take the fall."
Enzo looked at Harper. The clock was ticking. If Preston got past the borders, he would be untouchable.
"We go to the private airfield tonight," Enzo said.
"I'm coming," Harper said.
"No," Enzo argued. "It’s too dangerous."

"He took my life," Harper said, standing up, her posture rigid and unbreakable. "I am going to be the last thing he sees before he loses it."
Enzo looked at her and saw the scars. He realized that the scars weren't a sign of weakness—they were a map of her endurance. He nodded. "Suit up."
