Chapter 6 - A New Dawn

Six months later.
The dark, sterile hallways of the hospital were replaced by the warm, golden sunlight of the Thorne coastal estate. The ocean waves crashed gently against the shore below the terrace, filling the air with a peaceful melody.
On Facebook, the Thorne family saga had finally concluded not with a corporate scandal, but with an outpouring of global support. The Rossis were gone—Isabella had been sentenced to thirty years without parole, and her father’s empire had been completely liquidated to pay for their systemic financial crimes. Elaine Parker was serving ten years for her corporate espionage and complicity.
On the sunlit terrace, Khloe sat in a wooden rocking chair. The pale, exhausted woman from the hospital suite was gone. In her place was a radiant, glowing mother, her health fully restored.
In her arms lay baby Clara. Born premature, Clara had beaten every medical odd. Now six months old, she was a chubby, bright-eyed baby girl with her mother’s thick dark hair and her father’s piercing gaze. She giggled loudly, her tiny hands reaching up to grab a silver rattle.
Marcus walked out onto the terrace, wearing a casual linen shirt, completely detached from the corporate world he had temporarily left behind to be a full-time father. He carried a tray with fresh fruit and tea.
He set the tray down and knelt beside Khloe’s chair, wrapping his large hands gently around hers and Clara's. Clara immediately let go of the rattle to grab her father’s thumb, letting out a joyful screech.
"The board called again today," Marcus murmured, his face softening completely as he looked at his wife and child. "They want me back at the office full-time next month."
Khloe smiled, running her fingers through his hair. "And what did the ruthless billionaire Marcus Thorne say?"

"I told them Thorne Industries can run itself," Marcus replied, leaning up to press a tender kiss to Khloe’s lips, then to Clara’s forehead. "My true empire is right here on this porch."
Khloe leaned her head against his shoulder, watching the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of pink and gold. The bruises had faded, the trauma had been conquered, and from the shattered fragments of that terrible night, they had built a fortress of love that nothing could ever break again. They were finally, completely safe.
