Chapter 3 - Counterattack

The betrayal stung, but Marcus had no time for grief. He walked into a private office inside the hospital and opened his laptop. For months, he had tolerated Isabella’s presence in his social circles because of a massive joint-venture energy project between Thorne Industries and the Rossi Group. He had been playing the long game, gathering evidence of Victor Rossi’s illegal offshore tax evasion to completely crush the family business-wise.
He had intended to do it quietly. But now that they had spilled his wife’s blood, quiet was no longer an option.
"Gabe," Marcus called out, his voice vibrating with a lethal calmness. "Release the black ledger. Every offshore account, every bribed politician, every shell company tied to Victor Rossi. Upload it directly to the federal registry and copy every major news outlet. Now."
"Sir, if we do that, the joint-venture collapses, and Thorne Industries takes a forty percent hit on the stock market tomorrow morning," Gabe warned.
"I don't care if the company goes to zero," Marcus snarled. "Burn them down."
By 6:00 AM, the internet didn't care about the fake rumors about Khloe anymore. The financial world was rocked by the largest corporate leak in a decade. “THE ROSSI LAUNDRY: Billionaire Family Exposed in Multi-Billion Dollar Fraud Case.” The news spread across Facebook like wildfire, gaining millions of shares. The public sympathy shifted instantly as the raw, unedited hospital footage was also officially released by the police department.
Just as the corporate hammer fell, Jonathan walked into the office. His face was pale, but his eyes held a glimmer of hope.
"The surgery is over," Jonathan said. "Khloe survived. She’s in the ICU."

"And the baby?" Marcus asked, his breath hitching.
"It’s a girl, Marcus. She’s incredibly small—only three pounds—and her lungs are weak. She’s in an incubator in the NICU. The next twenty-four hours will determine if she makes it."
