Claire sat in a plush armchair on the wide stone terrace, cradling a one-week-old baby girl in her arms. The infant had bright, peaceful eyes, completely insulated from the savage storm that had raged across the family estate before her arrival.
I stepped out onto the porch, gently draping a soft knit blanket over Claire’s lap. She looked up at me, a single tear of pure relief rolling down her cheek, but this time, her face was entirely free of the exhaustion that had haunted her for years.
"Mom," Claire said softly, reaching out to lock her fingers through mine. "We actually did it, didn't we? It's over."

"It's completely over, my girl," I said, bending down to press a soft kiss against my granddaughter's forehead. "Every pair of handcuffs is sealed, every predator has been cleared from the field, and this home... this entire empire belongs exclusively to you now."
The sound of mountain birds filled the garden, blending with the steady, safe breathing of the sleeping child. The wolves had been broken, the traps had been dismantled, and our family had finally found our way back to the only thing that mattered—safe, resilient, and forever home.
