79 The Judge’s Twins

Julia had given birth to twins just hours earlier.

Her body was weak.

Her hands were trembling.

But the moment her mother-in-law stepped into the VIP recovery suite, Julia knew something was terribly wrong.

Evelyn Vance wasn't carrying flowers.

She was carrying documents.

Adoption papers.

Julia stared at them in disbelief, exhausted and confused.

Without a hint of emotion, Evelyn placed the papers beside the newborns' bassinets and said, "One of these babies belongs to this family. Sign the papers."

Julia's breath caught in her throat.

Across the room, her husband lowered his eyes and said nothing.

One of the twins began to cry.

Summoning every ounce of strength she had left, Julia reached for both of her babies.

"No," she whispered. "You're not taking my child."

Evelyn's expression turned ice cold.

Within seconds, the peaceful hospital room erupted into chaos.

The papers scattered across the floor.

One of the bassinets rolled backward.

Julia screamed for help as Evelyn shouted that Julia was mentally unstable.

She cried.

She lied.

She pleaded with the nurses to believe her.

And for a terrifying moment, it almost worked.

Then security rushed into the room.

One of the guards reviewed the hospital security footage.

Moments later, someone quietly spoke the name, "Judge Vance."

The entire room fell silent.

Because the woman Evelyn had dismissed as weak and worthless wasn't helpless at all.

So what secret was Julia hiding from the family that tried to steal her baby?
