Chapter 7 - Gathering the Army

Dominic didn't wait for Carmine to make the first move.

Within two hours, the grand ballroom of Moretti Plaza was filled with fifty of the most powerful capos, soldiers, and business partners tied to the Moretti network. They sat around a long oak table, low murmurs filling the room as they wondered why Dominic had called an emergency war council.

Dominic entered the room accompanied by Marco. He wore a sharp black suit, his presence towering and absolute.

He stood at the head of the table, placing the old shoebox of letters on the wood before them.

"Seven years ago," Dominic spoke, his voice echoing through the silent hall, "my father lied to me. He tried to force me to choose between this business and the people I love. For seven years, Don Carmine thought that made us vulnerable."

The capos listened intently, nobody daring to interrupt.

"Last night," Dominic continued, his dark eyes sweeping over the men, "Carmine Lucchesi threatened my daughter. He thinks because I have a family now, I am weak. He thinks I will surrender the Brooklyn piers to protect them."

Dominic slammed his fist onto the table, making the glass water tumblers ring.

"He is wrong!" Dominic declared fiercely. "Having a family doesn't make me weak—it makes me relentless! Tonight, we wipe the Lucchesi family out of Manhattan!"

A roar of approval erupted from the capos. Men stood up, pounding their fists on the table. The Moretti family had been waiting for a leader with fire in his blood for years—and Dominic had just given it to them.
