Chapter 10 - The Signature That Changed Everything

Six months later, the chapel on the estate grounds was filled with light, soft music, and fresh white lilies.

It was a private, exquisite ceremony. Only Marco, a few trusted friends, and the estate staff were in attendance.

Dominic stood at the altar, looking immensely handsome in a dark navy tuxedo. His eyes were locked on the back of the chapel as the doors opened.

Lily walked down the aisle first, wearing a tiny white bridesmaid dress, proudly carrying a velvet ring pillow. On top of the pillow, sitting beside the two gold wedding bands, was her worn stuffed rabbit with the single repaired ear.

Then came Clara.

She was breathtaking in an elegant lace gown that flowed around her like water. Her dark curls fell gracefully over her shoulders, and her smile was so bright it illuminated the entire room.

When she reached the altar, Dominic took her hands in his, his heart overflowing with a joy he had never known was possible.

The priest spoke the ancient words, but when it came time for the vows, Dominic looked directly into Clara's eyes.

"Seven years ago, I thought I lost the only piece of light in my life," Dominic said, his deep voice thick with genuine emotion. "I spent years living in the cold, believing power was all I had left. But a brave little girl walked into my lobby with mismatched boots and a termination paper, and she brought me back to life. Clara, I promise to love you, honor you, and protect you and Lily with every breath I take."

Clara smiled through happy, glowing tears. "Dominic, you gave me strength when I was alone, and you gave our daughter a father she adores. I am yours, forever."

After the rings were exchanged and the priest pronounced them husband and wife, Dominic pulled Clara into a deep, passionate kiss as the chapel erupted into joyful applause.

At the signing table near the altar, Dominic and Clara stood together with the legal marriage certificate laid out before them.

Dominic picked up the gold fountain pen. With a firm, decisive stroke, he signed his name beside Clara's, officially unifying their family under the law and under God.

He handed the pen to little Lily, who giggled and carefully drew a small heart beside their signatures.

Dominic scooped Lily up into his left arm while pulling Clara close against his right side. Together, the three of them walked out of the chapel into the bright afternoon sunlight, leaving the dark shadows of the past behind forever, embraced by a future filled with warmth, love, and unbroken peace.
