Chapter 5 - The Bellini Bloodline

Before Cameron could answer, the front doors burst open, and Matteo stepped inside, surrounded by four armed security guards. His face was a mask of pure, murderous rage.
"Get your hands off her, Giancarlo!" Matteo roared, drawing a weapon from inside his coat and pointing it directly at the silver-haired man.
The guards quickly took positions, locking the foyer down in an intense, standoff.
The older man, Giancarlo, slowly raised his hands, though his eyes never left Cameron’s face. "Matteo... what is this devilry? You told me my niece was burned to ashes in that car crash! Who is this woman?"
"Niece?" Cameron repeated, her head spinning. She looked from Giancarlo to Matteo, who kept his gun trained on the intruder.
"Giancarlo Bellini," Matteo spat, his voice filled with venom. "Sofia's uncle. The head of the Bellini syndicate in Europe. The man who tried to seize my company's shipping routes the moment my wife died."
"I came here to discuss the board vote, Matteo," Giancarlo said, his voice trembling slightly as he stared at Cameron. "But this... this is impossible. She isn't just a lookalike. She has the Bellini eyes. The signature mark beneath the ear."
Giancarlo took a step toward Cameron, ignoring the guards raising their weapons. "Girl... where were you born?"
"New York," Cameron stammered, stepping back toward the nursery door. "In an orphanage."
Giancarlo let out a harsh, breathy laugh, shaking his head in disbelief. "My brother... that fool. Before he married Sofia's mother in Florence, he had an affair with an American girl in New York. When she got pregnant, he paid her to disappear. We all thought she aborted the child!"
The truth crashed down upon the foyer like a tidal wave. Cameron felt the room tilt beneath her feet.
