725 "The Billionaire Was About to Drink His Fiancée’s Soup When a Deaf Little Girl Began Signing “DON’T EAT”—Then Security Discovered What Was Hidden in the Kitchen.

Three weeks after the dramatic arrests at the Vance estate, the corporate world was in absolute chaos. News of the attempted poisoning and the arrest of Julian Sterling’s co-conspirators hit the front pages of every major financial newspaper from Wall Street to London. Shares of Sterling Heavy Industries plummeted by forty percent in forty-eight hours, while Vance Global Dynamics bounced back with unprecedented strength.

However, Julian Sterling was not a man who went down without a fight. Sitting in his glass-walled penthouse high above Manhattan, released on a fifty-million-dollar bail while his high-priced legal team scrambled to delay federal indictments, Sterling was furious.

"He used a deaf orphan child to destroy a two-year operation!" Sterling roared, slamming his crystal whiskey glass onto his glass desk, shattering it into a dozen pieces.

Standing opposite him was Vance's former security consultant, a disgraced ex-intelligence officer named Rayner who had been secretly on Sterling’s payroll for years.

"Arthur Vance has officially filed adoption papers for the girl," Rayner reported coldly, pulling a manila folder from his jacket. "Her name is Maya Reyes. She is currently living at the estate under round-the-clock private security. She is also set to be the key eye-witness in the upcoming federal prosecution trial."

Sterling’s eyes narrowed into dark, vicious slits. "A eight-year-old child who reads lips is the only human link connecting my personal shell companies to Dr. Hayes’ payment transfers?"

"Precisely," Rayner nodded. "If that child doesn't testify at the grand jury hearing next month, the federal prosecutors lose their primary primary witness. The text messages from Victoria won't be enough to convict you directly."
