Chapter 7 - The Siege of Bedford

Night fell over Bedford like a shroud. A violent thunderstorm battered the estate, lightning illuminating the heavy rain in jagged flashes.
Inside the estate, all the lights were turned off. The mansion stood dark and silent, appearing completely vulnerable to the outside world.
Down in the subterranean panic room, Claire sat with Lily on a plush sofa. The panic room was built like a military bunker, equipped with independent air filtration, security monitors, and reinforced titanium doors. Lily was sleeping peacefully, holding her stuffed bear, oblivious to the storm outside.
On the security monitors, Claire watched the main gate.
At 1:15 AM, three heavy black armored SUVs smashed through the estate’s iron front gates, their headlights blinding through the darkness. Dozens of heavily armed Genovese mercenaries poured out onto the lawn, led by Charles Reddick himself, who was wearing a rain trench coat and holding a submachine gun.
“Clear the ground floor!” Charles’s voice echoed through the external security mics. “Find Moretti and execute him! Search the basement for the girl and the kid!”
The mercenaries rushed up the front steps, breaching the grand double doors of the mansion.
Inside the pitch-black foyer, silence reigned for two agonizing seconds.
Then, the lights flashed on.
Standing at the top of the grand marble staircase was Adrian Moretti, wearing a black tactical vest, holding a heavy shotgun. Flanking him on the upper balconies were thirty of his most loyal, heavily armed enforcers, led by Marcus.
“Welcome to my home, Charles,” Adrian’s voice echoed like thunder through the speakers.
