Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Six months later.

The morning sun filtered through the grand floor-to-ceiling windows of the Beacon Hill estate, casting a warm golden glow across the lush gardens outside.

I stood in front of the full-length mirror in the master suite, adjusting the skirt of a simple, beautiful cream dress. The medical debts were long gone. The final notices were a distant memory. But more importantly, the fear that had defined my life for two long years had vanished.

A pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist from behind, and Luca pressed a soft kiss to the crook of my neck.

"You look beautiful, Mrs. Romano," Luca whispered into my ear, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine.

I smiled, turning in his arms and resting my hands against his chest. "We haven't had the wedding yet, Mr. Romano. You still have three weeks."

"In my heart, you’ve been my wife since the night you stormed into my library to save your son," Luca said, looking down at me with an intensity that took my breath away.

The months following the night at the shipyard had brought massive changes. Luca had completely dismantled the dirty elements of the Romano syndicate, transitioning every asset into legitimate international hotel chains, shipping logistics, and philanthropic foundations. He had done it for us—to build a world where Noah could grow up without shadows.

And three months ago, on the rooftop of the Grand Marquette under a sky full of fireworks, Luca had gotten down on one knee and asked me to share his life forever.

"Mommy! Luca! Look!"

Noah came bursting through the double doors of the room, dressed in a sharp little navy blazer and khaki pants. He was running at full speed, dragging a brand-new toy fire truck behind him.

Luca laughed, dropping to one knee and catching Noah mid-stride, lifting the four-year-old high into the air as Noah squealed with delight.

"Careful, young man," Luca chuckled, setting him down. "Your mother spent an hour getting you dressed."

"Look at my truck, Luca! It has a real ladder!" Noah cheered proudly, bouncing on his heels. He looked up at Luca with eyes full of pure adoration. "Are we going to the hotel today?"

"We are," Luca said, patting Noah’s head gently. "Today, we are opening the new children's wing at the Marquette. And you get to cut the ribbon."

"Yay!" Noah shouted, turning to run back down the hallway to show Rosa his truck.

Luca stood up, taking my hand in his and intertwining our fingers. He looked at me, his dark eyes soft and filled with a peace he had sought his entire life.

"When I heard those tiny footprints coming toward my elevator that morning," Luca said softly, pulling me close and kissing my forehead, "I thought someone was coming to take what was mine. I never imagined he was bringing me everything I ever needed."

I leaned up on my tiptoes, pressing my lips firmly against his. "He was just looking for a happy ending."

"And he found it," Luca murmured against my lips. "We all did."

Hand in hand, we walked out of the room, stepping into the bright, warm sunlight of a future built on love, strength, and a family that could never be broken.
