Chapter 10 - The Sanctuary

Two years later.

The morning sun rose softly over the Lake Geneva estate. The burned cottage had been completely rebuilt, not as a security post, but as a cozy, warm nursery for orphaned puppies and sick animals recovering from trauma.

Inside the main mansion’s master bedroom, the french doors were wide open, letting in a cool, sweet breeze from the lake.

Evelyn sat in a rocking chair near the window, cradling a tiny, three-month-old baby boy wrapped in a soft blue blanket. The baby had dark hair and brilliant green eyes—a perfect mix of his parents.

Gabriel stood beside the chair, pouring two cups of warm tea. He set a cup down on the table, then sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out to gently touch his son’s tiny hand.

"He looks like you when he's sleeping," Gabriel said softly, a look of profound peace on his face.

"He has your chin," Evelyn smiled, leaning her head against Gabriel’s arm. "And his father’s stubbornness."

On the large rug at the foot of the chair lay Titan. The giant Cane Corso was older now, with a few grey hairs dusting his muzzle, but he remained the fierce, unbreakable guardian of the family.

As if sensing he was being thought about, Titan raised his massive head, walked slowly over to the rocking chair, and gently placed his big snout right next to the baby’s tiny feet, letting out a soft, contented sigh.

"He's going to protect him forever, isn't he?" Gabriel asked softly, watching the dog.

"He protects all of us," Evelyn replied, resting her hand over Gabriel’s hand on the baby's blanket.

The days of shadows, gunshots, and betrayal were long gone, buried beneath the foundation of a home built on unconditional love, trust, and second chances.

The savage dog that everyone had feared had exposed the secrets of the mansion—not to destroy it, but to clear the path for the family that was always meant to be.
