The two security guards stepped forward, their massive frames flanking Marcus on either side.

“This is a setup! You have no proof!” Marcus snarled, his voice rising in panic as he backed toward the glass doors.

“Commercial office building with public consent notices posted at every elevator,” David replied coolly, spinning his laptop around. “My client’s corporate security system is fully authorized to record all unauthorized intruders in restricted executive suites.”

“Marcus Cole?” the lead investigator asked, flashing a gold badge. “You’re under arrest for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, identity theft, extortion, and financial exploitation of an elderly person.”

The click of steel handcuffs echoing through my private office was the sweetest sound I had ever heard. As Marcus was hauled out of the room, I stood up and buttoned my suit jacket.

“David,” I said. “Let’s head to the county courthouse. Chloe has already been served with emergency restraining orders and eviction notices. Her bank accounts are frozen, and her legal team just dropped her.”
