Chapter 7 - The Eviction of the Dynasty

Seventy-two hours later, the storm had returned to Grayhaven, Maine, but this time, it brought a legal hurricane that no mafia syndicate could shoot its way out of.

At 10:00 AM, six black sedans bearing the official insignia of the United States Marshals Service pulled up to the main gates of Blackwood Maritime Headquarters.

Inside the executive boardroom, Victor Hale was shouting into a phone when the heavy double doors were pushed open. Two federal marshals, accompanied by Herr Schenker and a team of local police officers, walked into the room.

"Victor Hale?" the lead Marshal asked, pulling a laminated court injunction from his jacket.

"What is the meaning of this intrusion?!" Victor barked, slamming his cane down. "This is private property!"

"Correction, Mr. Hale," Herr Schenker said, stepping forward with his precise Swiss accent. "This land belongs to the Vale Heritage Trust. Pursuant to the enforcement of the 1954 Reversionary Covenant, Miss Helena Vale has formally terminated your land lease."

The lead Marshal placed the document on the table. "You have two hours to clear all personnel and private property from these premises. As of noon today, this building, the adjacent deep-water docks, and all maritime loading infrastructure are under federal receivership until ownership is fully transferred to Miss Vale."

Olivia, who was sitting near the window, let out a shriek of terror. "Victor! What are they saying?! They can't kick us out of our own headquarters!"

"Call the judges!" Victor spat, his face turning purple with rage. "Call Judge Miller! Call the district attorney!"

"Judge Miller recused himself thirty minutes ago, Mr. Hale," the lead Marshal said coldly. "Miss Vale filed a formal federal conflict disclosure regarding his offshore bank accounts in the Bahamas. You have no legal recourse here. Clear the building."

Down at the docks, the situation was even more dramatic.

Dominic Rossi stood at the head of five hundred longshoremen, their arms crossed, watching as dark blue moving trucks bearing the Vale Logistics logo pulled into the port terminal. Behind them, two massive container ships—the ones that had been stranded for days—began their engines.

A large black SUV pulled up to the dock edge. The door opened, and Helena stepped out, wearing a long navy coat, a white silk scarf framing her glowing face. Beside her walked her legal team and Marcus.

Dominic Rossi stepped forward, a broad, triumphant smile spreading across his weathered face. He tipped his hard hat to her.

"Welcome home, Mrs. Vale," Dominic said loudly, his voice echoing across the concrete pier.

"Thank you, Dominic," Helena said, offering her hand, which he took with deep respect. "Is the fleet ready?"

"Every longshoreman in Maine is standing by," Dominic declared. "The moment you sign the new labor agreement, we start unloading. But what about the Blackwood boys? Victor's security teams are still sitting in the south warehouse."

Helena looked toward the south warehouse, where several dark black sedans belonging to Adrian's enforcement team were parked, their windows tinted, watching her every move.

"They have thirty minutes to leave my property," Helena said calmly. "If they remain past noon, Marcus will notify the Coast Guard that unauthorized armed personnel are trespassing on a secure federal port facility."

At that exact moment, another vehicle sped onto the pier, tires screeching against the wet pavement.

Adrian burst out of the driver's side. He looked ragged, his eyes bloodshot, his suit rumpled. He hadn't slept since returning from Zurich on a private flight. He ran toward Helena, but Marcus and three union workers stepped in front of him, forming an impenetrable wall.

"Helena!" Adrian screamed over the roar of the wind and ocean waves. "Helena, talk to me! Don't do this to the family!"

Helena turned slowly, looking at him across the ten feet of concrete that separated them. The ocean rain blew between them, cold and relentless.

"The family died when you put my coat on my sister, Adrian," Helena said, her voice carrying easily over the storm. "What you are looking at now is simply the liquidation of your assets."

"You are carrying my children!" Adrian cried out, his voice breaking, tears mixing with the rainwater on his face. "You can't raise my sons without me! You can't hide them from their legacy!"

Helena looked at him with a profound, terrifying pity. She gently unbuttoned her navy coat, letting the wind push the fabric back, revealing the distinct, beautiful shape of her twenty-two-week pregnancy. She placed both hands over her lower stomach—a picture of absolute, sacred maternal protection.

"Their legacy won't be crime, extortion, and betrayal, Adrian," Helena said softly, yet every person on that pier heard her. "Their legacy will be the Vale name. Strong, legitimate, and clean."

She turned her back on him, stepping toward the port office to sign the papers that would officially claim the city's maritime trade for herself.

"Helena!" Adrian screamed, trying to push past Marcus, but Dominic Rossi stepped directly into his path, placing a thick, heavy hand against Adrian's chest.

"Stand down, Blackwood," Dominic said quietly, his eyes dark. "You had a Queen, and you traded her for a trinket. Now pay the price like a man."
